Questions & Answers
Q: Is there any time throughout my pregnancy when massage therapy is not safe?
A: If your pregnancy is normal and you and your baby are both happy and healthy you can get massage throughout your entire pregnancy. If you fall into a high risk category your therapist will adjust your treatment as needed and give alternatives to treatment if required.
Q: Do you have a massage table that allows a pregnant women to lay on their stomach for a massage treatment?
A: At the clinic we do not use pregnancy tables that have a hole for your stomach. These tables do not give enough support for your lower back or ligaments and one size does not fit all. We treat all pregnant clients laying on their side with pillows for your head, arms and legs. You may be put in a semi-sitted position to treat your neck, shoulders, and abdomen (babies first massage).
Q: I am having twins, is it safe for me to get a massage therapy treatment?
A: Yes. As long as you and your babies are healthy and your pregnancy is going well, you can receive massage therapy treatments. Your therapist may modify some techniques and use more pillows for your comfort.
Q: I do not have a lot of time before or after work to come for a massage therapy treatment. Is it worth coming on my lunch hour for a half hour appointment.
A: Absolutely. A 30 minute massage treatment can help relieve sore back, shoulder and neck muscles, and can help you return to work refreshed. Your massage therapist can show you relaxation techniques and stretches to help keep your muscles relaxed and lengthened after your massage treatment.
